Public
Works Commission
Our client:
Municipal utility company providing electric, water and sewer service.
As a locally-based, hometown utility, PWC is also an involved
member of the community providing community services, as well as public
information messages on safety and conservation.
Our mission: Create television commercials promoting water
and power conservation. We needed to create spots that captured attention,
conveyed several facts/recommendations for saving electricity or water
and made them memorable, and enhanced the image of the company by the
quality of the spot yes, all of the above in 30 seconds,
with a limited budget!
Our solution: Hodges
proposed a technique used in movies, TV shows (such as Blues Clues) and
commercials, where live actors interact with illustrated props and background.
The Hodges team then sprung into action to make the concept work.
Four commercials
were produced – with tips for water conversation, indoors and out,
and for saving electricity, in summer and winter. And production was
a success. We were able to use this sophisticated technique and create
polished results with a modest budget. We know the spots are getting
noticed (our actors have even been hailed in community by their “screen
names”). And we believe people are taking the conservation messages
to heart. We also produced “parallel” print and radio ads.
