FTCC offering new collision repair and refinishing program

New degree opportunity:

Fayetteville Technical Community College has a new Collision Repair and Refinishing Program. Students will follow one of three tracks: estimator, non-structural technician, or refinish technician. Core curriculum reinforces necessary on-the-job skills: humanities courses reinforce customer service and leadership skills; math classes focus on measurement systems and recording, manipulating and analyzing data; English classes teach written and verbal communication skills to support standard industry reports and customer interaction. North Carolina school advances training in collision repair

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) – Auto manufacturers, collision repair chains, and insurance companies are helping a North Carolina community college launch a new training center promising good jobs.

Gov. Pat McCrory is expected to be on hand Wednesday when Fayetteville Technical Community College opens its new collision repair technology center. The training is designed to bring collision repair workers up to speed with an auto industry that increasingly relies on advanced materials and engineering.

The two-year curriculum prepares graduates with training in cosmetic repairs, aluminum and steel welding, and a new focus on insurance operations.

Tuition is $5,500 and graduates can expect ready employment with starting wages of about $40,000 and the potential to double that income.
